Solar System Ambassadors ProgramKid's Cosmos is delighted to announce that our executive director, Jim Draggoo, has been selected to serve as a volunteer Solar System Ambassador. We believe that it is a wonderful opportunity to extend and enlarge our educational outreach and our Mission.


About the Solar System Ambassador Program

The program is an expansion of the Galileo Ambassador program started in 1997 to provide public outreach for the Galileo mission to Jupiter. The effort provides opportunities to excite the imaginations of our youth, inform and engage the general public and create enthusiasm for space exploration. The following quotes are from the Solar System Ambassador (SSA) main page.

"The Solar System Ambassadors Program is a public outreach program designed to work with motivated volunteers across the nation. These volunteers communicate the excitement of JPL's space exploration missions and information about recent discoveries to people in their local communities."

"There are now 294 Ambassadors in 50 states, Puerto Rico and an American military base in Okinawa bringing the excitement of space to the public. Ambassadors are space enthusiasts from various walks of life who are interested in providing greater service and inspiration to the community at large."

"The Solar System Ambassadors Program is sponsored by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA, an operating division of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and a lead research and development center for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)."
